Robbers with lethal weapons nabbed near Gundya

Submitted by alvin on Wed, 2016-04-13 13:14 Puttur: Uppinangady police arrested a gang of five who robbed a family travelling in a car, Monday night. The police have seized lethal weapons and chilli powder and also a qualis vehicle from the gang. Besides, the police also recovered Rs 69,500 in cash, six mobile phones, five knives, two machetes, five flashlights and a single-barrel gun. Addressing mediapersons, assistant superintendent of police Laxman Nimbargi said the police, acting on a tip-off, chased the gang which was on its way from Nellyadi to Gundya in qualis bearing Himachal Pradesh registration. The police asked the vehicle to stop but it sped away raising suspicions. However, they were blocked at a distance by the police. There were seven persons in the vehicle but two managed to escape after seeing the police. The police arrested the five. The arrested are Abdul Khader (42) of Kadavinabagilu in Ilantila village, Abdulrahman (34) of Kantadka in Alike, Abubakar (60) of Okkettur in Vittal, Adrama (34) of Kantadka and Muhammed Kabir (51) of Kote in Uppinangady. Police are searching for Muhammed Puttu and Ibrahim of Vittal who are at large.
