But this should not deter the protests, said Esha Vittaldas Swami of Kemaru Sandipani Sadhanashram. Addressing protesters who were on hunger strike in front of DC office here on Thursday, the seer said the government is promising to bring many projects to the region through SEZ but this will reduce Dakshina Kannada region to a dumpyard. He urged the protesters to intensify their agitation by holding a march to Vidhana Soudha. Parish Priest of Rosario Cathedral Fr J B Crasta said the Rosario Church is situated between Netravati and Phalguni river. Thousands of people use water from Netravati river. The river diversion project will deprive people of their rights, besides damaging the ecology. “Let the government understand the importance of river and drop the Yettinahole project,” he said.
