MCC evicts dozens of petty shops in Mangaluru

Submitted by alvin on Wed, 2016-03-16 21:12 Mangaluru: In a surprise drive, the Mangaluru City Corporation (MCC) officials evicted dozens of illegal petty shops and vendors from Town Hall and near service bus stand who had encroached upon newly built footpaths and sideways, causing inconvenience to the public and motorists.Following numerous public complaints, the MCC decided to clear the pathways from street vendors, said Raju Mogaveera, Deputy Commissioner (Revenue), who supervised the drive. Despite issuing notices to these street vendors, they did not move. “We thought, enough is enough,” the deputy commissioner said.Will this be another publicity exercise by the MCC? “Not anymore. We will monitor the situation on a daily basis.”
