MIT's Revels 16 off to a great start


Submitted by alvin on Wed, 2016-03-09 18:13 Udupi: Classical dancer Charles Ma from Bangalore and popular stand-up comedian Sorabh Pant enthralled audience at Manipal Institute of Technology's Revels 16, which was off to a great start on Tuesday.  As many as 1,500 students from 25 institutions across the country are here for the four-day festival, which was earlier inaugurated by Vasanthi R Pai, Chairperson, Hostel Management Committee, Manipal University.  "Revels is one of the most awaited festival in the south circuit among the engineering colleges and is widely regarded as the largest event in Karnataka. This year, MIT plans to stop at nothing, and make this fest not just a success, but an enduring part of every participant’s life. We attempt to provide the participants a platform where they can pursue their passion, perceive it, believe in it and achieve their goals,” said Dr GK Prabhu, Director MIT welcoming the gathering. Speaking on the occasion, chief guest Annamalai K termed festivals such as Revels the "souls of any institution".  Dr HS Ballal, Pro-Chancellor, Manipal University, said he was happy to see ‘Revels 16’ was a notch higher than the previous ones. He congratulated the student council of MIT and its president Aakar Jain and his team. Charles Ma’s Bharatnatyam took everyone by surprise. He provided the perfect setting for the evening with his enthralling dance recital. Ma also told the students how he took to classical dancing and that it was a passion with him now.  Next was Shorab’s comedy show. He had the audience roaring with laughter from the time he came on to the stage with his sense of humour. He had no specific theme, but a mixed bag of wisecracks and sense of humor.
