Submitted by Editor on Sun, 2016-01-24 19:57 Mangaluru: Around 345 people residing in Mangaluru South Assembly constituency Rs 86.25 lakh in credit through the Karnataka Minority Development Corporation at Loyola Hall on Saturday. Disbursing the cheques, former union minister and Rajya Sabha member Oscar Fernandes urged the people to make use of the opportunity properly. “The Constitution provides equal opportunity to all. In order to extend monetary help to minorities, government has been disbursing cheque under different schemes,” he said. Dakshina Kannada district in-charge Minister B Ramanatha Rai said the Congress government had taken many development works in the last two years. “As the Congress government cares for the welfare of the minorities, people should best use of the facilities,” he said. A total of 345 beneficiaries, 292 beneficiaries identified under Shramashakti scheme and 53 beneficiaries under ‘Swavalambana’ scheme, received credit facilities to the tune of Rs 86.25 lakh on the occasion. Karnataka Minorities Development Corporation Chairman Mohammed Masood, MLC Ivan D'Souza, Mangaluru South MLA J R Lobo were present at the event.
