The deceased have been identified as Sunanda (40), her children Bharath (9) Bhuvith (7). The reason for Sunanda taking the extreme step is said to her chronic uterus related ailments. Ten years ago Sunanda was married to Srinivas, a resident of Puttur taluk and a day wage labour, Police said. She had shifted from her husband’s place to her parents’ house in Belthangady along with her children, three years ago, for facilitating quality education. However, there were no family issues, police said. Recently, when she got pregnant she was told that she was having fatal uterus related problems. Depressed by this she took the extreme step, it is said. Police said that the incident occurred at around 1.30 pm. The tragedy came to light when Sunanda’s brother found her missing from home and went looking for her. He found the bodies floating in a well belonging to his uncle. A case has been registered at the Belthangady Police Station under Indian Penal Code (IPC) 301 (Culpable homicide by causing death of person other than person whose death was intended) and Unnatural Death Report.
