But DFRL has developed a technology that will ready your upma and halwa in flat two minutes. Yes, you read it right. Mouthwatering halwa and yummy upma can be prepared in just 120 seconds. Brought out in a powdered form, just add it to hot water to relish these snacks. DFRL was showcasing this and other mindblowing products on the occasion of national technology day in Mysuru. Its retort process technology loaded with high protein was much in demand by private food manufacturers. Till now 468 companies have purchased food technology from DFRL, Mysuru of which 12 firms are from Mysuru Another highlight of the day was therm-o-pack, food pack with self-heating system exclusively developed for army personnel. This can be used where army personnel have no means to heat the food. All they have to do is just insert the sharp stick – provided with the pack – into therm-o-pack which is packed with water, chemical board and food. Within 15 minutes, water gets heated and it automatically heats the food. This is said to be ideal for soldiers in cold areas. Experts say that on many occasions, cooking would prove dangerous to soldiers. For, fire from kitchen would expose their hideouts to enemy camp. Keeping this in mind, the technology has been developed, experts add. Also, there is vacuum fry technology to prepare oil less chips from vegetables.
