The centre located in the II Stage of Nimishamba Layout was inaugurated on Friday and received an overwhelming response as nearly hundred senior citizens enrolled for membership. The day-care centre for senior citizens can accommodate 50 members per day. Four members deputed at the centre will prepare food and attend to the needs of the members. “Newspapers are available. Members can also watch TV, and mid-day meals will also be provided. Senior citizens not happy in their home can spend their time in the centre,” said Mahadeva Swamy, secretary, Green Rural Development and Training Centre. “Our voice has no value once we get old. Here we can discuss ideas with fellow members and pass our time meaningfully,” said a member who enrolled on Friday. “I suddenly feel energetic after I enrolled. It is a good initiative by the government,” said BV Prema, 62, a resident of Saraswathipuram.
