Submitted by Editor on Mon, 2016-01-25 18:12 Mumbai: Winners of the #100Women Initiative, a joint initiative of Facebook and Union Woman and Child Development (WCD) ministry, met the President of India on the eve of the Republic day. The initiative aims to recognise women leaders in India who are making a difference to peoples’ lives across India. People were invited to submit nominations on the Ministry’s Facebook page and then vote on the shortlist of finalists. Dr Kinjal Chandra from Mulund, Mumbai, known for her PEHEL Pediatric Therapy Centre, wherein she treats the autism and has founded a learning disability awareness initiative, ‘Nadaan Parindey’, was one of the participants. The other women achievers included Sonali Mukherjee, who survived an acid attack at the age of 17 and has spent her life fighting for justice; Dr Nandita Pathak who helps women to start businesses and eradicate poverty, and Ashima Kaul who leads a peace building initiative among women in Jammu and Kashmir.
