Submitted by Newseditor on Sat, 2015-12-05 14:04 Dubai: “Yakshamitraru Dubai” A dedicated group of Yakshagana enthusiasts residing in Dubai, recently organised the first ever Thenku Thittu Makeup and Costume Workshop in Dubai at Woodshine, Alquoz. Yakshamitraru Dubai Convener Chidananda Poojari and Dinesh inaugurated the workshop session by lighting the traditional lamp. Shekar D. Shettigar Kinnigoli, a senior Yakshagana make-up artiste conducted practical sessions, in which he explained the history of make-up. He also gave a demonstration of make-up and dressing. The primary lessons of face make-up were taught. He said, “Make-up, costumes and lighting go hand-in-hand in Yakshagana. Yakshagana is incomplete if any one of these elements is missing.” The valedictory ceremony was chaired by Jayaram Manchittaya, President Parthisubba Yakshagana Academy of Kerala. He lauded the efforts of the organisers. He said Yakshamithraru emerge as role models to others by providing free training those interested in Yakshagana and motivating children and young generation to be a part of the art. Convener Lakshmeesha Sharma and Vasu Bayar also spoke on the occasion. Lakshmeesha Sharma and Dinesh Shetty honored Jayaram Manchittaya. The workshop witnessed participation by people from all walks of life and different age groups including women and children. This workshops are held with an intention to preserve the traditional and unique folk art of Tulunadu for the generations to come. Interactive practical sessions were useful for participants. Certificates were distributed to all participants. Vasu Shetty of Gammat Kalavider Dubai, media representative Ramesh Suvarna, Girish Narayan, Balakrishna D. Shetttigar, Sumanth Hegde, Swathi Sharath Achar, Dinesh Bijai, Chandra Mohan, and Vikram Shetty Kadandadle were present during the occasion.
