Musical evening to treat Bahrain Kannadigas

Submitted by alvin on Mon, 2016-04-11 14:50 Bahrain: A cultural extravaganza, ‘Sangeetha Rasa Sanje – 2016’ awaits Kannadigas in Bahrain later this month. Being organised by Namma Kannada in association with the Indian Club Bahrain, the event is expected to feature everything about Kannada from Sandalwood to literature, food and culture. Veteran actor, popularly called Pranayaraja, Srinath will be the chief guest and yesteryear actress Sudha Rani will add glamour to the evening through dance choreographed by Chandrakala Mohan, Namitha Salian, Preetham Achar and Prajwal. Acclaimed singers Vikas Vasishta and Sangeetha Raveendranath will take the audience on a musical journey of melodious songs, star performer in Kannada TV serials Jayashree will anchor the show with Kamalaksha Amin, a popular local talent. Dr Srinath who began acting in theatre at the age of eight, soon bagged films. He debuted with ‘Madhura Milana’ in 1969. His ‘Subhamangala’ made him a star in 1975. He has acted in 190 films in a leading role, in 80 films in supporting roles and continues to act. Dr Srinath, along with his wife Geetha, who is also a talented actress, has produced five films, including the blockbuster ‘Manasa Sarovara’ and ‘Dharani Mandala Madhyadholage’ directed by Puttanna Kanagal. He is the recipient of many awards, including the Karnataka state honour and the Filmfare awards. Sudha Rani too entered the tinsel town as a child artiste and has acted in over 200 movise. Her acclaimed films include ‘Devataha Manushya’, ‘Jeevana Chaitra’, ‘Panchamaveda’, ‘Mysoora Mallige’, ‘Srigandha’, ‘Aragini’ and ‘Mane Devaru’. She has acted in all the four South Indian languages including a Tulu movie. She has won the Karnataka State award twice and the Film Fare award also twice. She is also the face of many popular brands in Southern India. Vasishta who bagged awards for his songs in ‘Manasaare’, has performed in over 600 concerts in India and abroad. He has also worked as music director for several movies. Sangeetha Raveendranath has given many hit tracks including the ‘Tithli, Tithli …’ in Ranna movie. About 1,500 people are expected to attend the event scheduled at the Indian Club’s open air theatre.
