Tremors Strike Pakistan and Nepal

Submitted by Newseditor on Sat, 2016-01-02 20:15 Karachi/Kathmandu: Parts of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) and Islamabad were rattled on Saturday by a 5.8-magnitude earthquake.The epicentre of the earthquake was located in the the Hindu Kush region of Afghanistan with a focal dept of 175 kilometers. Strong shocks were also felt in Peshawar.As per the reports, there have been no casualties or damage to buildings as of now.The convergence between the South Asian and Eurasia plates creates active faults and resultant earthquakes in Pakistan, India and Afghanistan.NepalNepal’s Sindhupalchok District experienced its first aftershock of the New Year at the crack of dawn on Saturday.The tremor was a light one, measuring 4.2 on the Richter Scale and occurred at 3.15 am.The National Seismological Centre (NSC) had on Friday recorded a tremor on the Indian side, close to Nepal’s Darchula District.
