More than 1.80 lakh students have already applied for the COMEDK Medical UGET scheduled for May 8. However, there will not be any change in the CET examination scheduled for May 4 and 5. “CET medical examination marks are also considered for various other courses like B. Pharma etc. So, there is no question of cancelling the examination,” said DS Ramesh, executive director, KEA. Dr K Panduranga Setty, vice-chairman of Private Professional Colleges Association said following the SC judgment, all the medical admissions conducted by consortium of colleges – deemed to be universities – have lost their significance. “Except NRI seats, all other medical seats must be filled through the NEET only. Hence, there will not be COMEDK Medical UGET,” he said and added that he welcomes the SC judgment. Meanwhile, all the deemed universities of the state are also expected to cancel their admission tests following the SC judgment.
