Putting speculations over the delay in announcing the results to rest, Rathnakar said the evaluation of the answer sheets was in progress and the results would be declared as per the schedule. “Last year, the PUC results were announced on May 18. This year, we will ensure that it will be announced around the same date,” said the minister. On the question of awarding grace marks to students, Rathnakar made it clear that no student would be awarded grace marks for any subject. “The question of grace marks would arise only when questions were asked questions which were not in the syllabus. There has not been any such instance,” he said. Rathnakar also said that the government was contemplating bifurcating administration and examination sections of the PU Board to avoid a repeat of incidents such as the question paper leak. The minister said that a proposal had been made to dispatch the question papers through the internet so that the centres can print the question papers themselves. The government was studying about the availability of facilities such as printing machines and uninterrupted power supply in concerned areas. “Once these facilities are ready, the online disbursement of the question papers will begin,” he said.
