Sources said that prime accused Manjunath, a physical education teacher at Cambridge College, Vijayanagar, has confessed that Obalaraju, minister Patil’s Officer on Special duty, contacted him and called him to minister’s office to seal the deal. On Tuesday, the three arrested – Obalaraju, Manjunath and PWD official Rudrappa – were produced before the 7th Additional Metropolitan Magistrate by CID and the court has extended the police custody till April 13. After recording statements of Manjunath, the investigating officers have intensified their search for the other accused in the exam paper leak. It is said that Tumakuru Shivakumar, a former lecturer is also behind the fiasco and he is at large. Shivakumar was earlier arrested in similar case in 2013 but had managed to come out on bail using his political clout. Besides, the CID officials have also taken in 10 persons – among the 40 suspended officials of Department of Pre-University Education – for further questioning.
