There were tense moments on Tuesday when hundreds of parents and students tried to gherao PU board director Pallavi Akurathi over the leak. A few parents demanded the board not to hold a reexam arguing that it would create problems for honest students. But a few other students and parents wanted a re-exam and immediate action against the culprits. As tempers rose, a group of parents and students tried to enter the office, leading to anxious moments. But Malleshwaram police rushed to the scene and dispersed the crowd. Agitating parents and students shouted slogans against the PU board and its director Pallavi Akurathi. Akurathi justified the decision to hold the re-exam saying that it would give justice to genuine students. She asked those against the decision to approach the state government.
