Submitted by Editor on Mon, 2016-03-21 22:19 Bengaluru: Suspended V-C of VTU, Belgaum, Dr Maheshappa has filed a writ petiton in the high court saying that the chancellor, governor of Karnataka Vajubhai Vala, had suspended him without listening to his side of the story. He is also expecting a stay on his suspension from the high court. Governor Vajubhai Vala had appointed a one-man commission of inquiry headed by retired judge of State High Court Justice Ajith Gunjal in December 2014 to look into various allegations of corruption in the VTU. Later, in May 2015, as Justice Gunjal opted out of the committee, governor had appointed former High Court Judge KN Keshavanarayana as the head of the commission. The commission had submitted its report in the first week of February 2016. The governor placed Maheshappa under suspension after he failed to submit an explanation on the findings of the committee.
