Reckless driver claims two lives on Airport Road

Submitted by alvin on Sat, 2016-03-12 10:42 Bengaluru: Two persons, including a pedestrian, were killed and one injured when a speeding taxi knocked them down in front of Indian Air Force (IAF) station on Bengaluru International Airport road on Friday morning. The Yelahanka traffic police identified the deceased as Ramakrishnappa, 35, a construction labourer and a resident of Chikkaballapur, and Pavan, 26, a resident of Byatarayanapura and an employee of a private firm. Pavan's friend Shankar, 30, was injured in the incident but is out of danger. Police said that Ramakrishnappa was killed on the spot when he was hit by a speeding car around 9am. The driver of the speeding car, in his bid to flee, later rammed into a bike, killing the bike rider Pavan instantly. The pillion rider Shankar fell on the road and was rushed to a nearby hospital. The bodies have been shifted to Yelahanka Government Hospital and were later handed over to their relatives after the postmortem examination. The police have taken up a case of hit and run against unknown car and launched manhunt for the driver.
