His wife Geeta Shivaraj Kumar and daughter Nivedita Shivaraj Kumar will join him during the trip which has been organised on behalf of the Basaveshwara Foundation. The Kannada film star will be later taken for a special tour of the British Parliament by Dr Patil and members of Kannada community on Mar 19 2016. He will also be meeting the longest serving MP of Asian origin Rt Hon Keith Vaz. In a press release, Shivaraj Kumar said, 'It’s a great honour to pay tribute to Basavanna in London. I sincerely thank the Basaveshwara Foundation and the Kannada community of the United Kingdom for providing me with such a great opportunity.' The Basaveshwara statue was unveiled in the London Borough of Lambeth by Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Nov 14 2015. This is the first conceptual statue to be approved by the British government in the vicinity of the British Parliament as a mark of respect to the social reformer. Basaveshwara promoted democratic ideals and gender equality during the 12th century.   Message from Shivaraj kumar
