350 Cases Filed and Rs 15 Lakh Fine Slapped for MRP Violations

Submitted by Newseditor on Tue, 2015-12-08 17:43 Bengaluru: The Department of Metrology has registered about 350 cases and collected Rs 4.15 Lakh from some shop owners for selling commodities like packaged drinking water, cold drinks and milk packets at a price exceeding the Maximum Retail Price (MRP) printed on them.In a state-wide drive conducted on December 4 and 5 on shops at bus stations, railway stations and other places, the department has registered cases against the shop owners under the Act-Violation of The Legal Metrology 2011.The department has also asked the public to inform the department if they encounter such violations.
