Submitted by alvin on Thu, 2016-05-19 20:33 Bengaluru: The West division police were able to solve as many as 13 cases of thefts after they arrested the leader of the gang of burglars involved in house break-ins. The arrest led to the recovery of gold and silver valuables worth Rs48 lakh from the gang. The gang leader Talapad Navagan Bhai, a resident of Gujarat, had been living in the city for the past five years in a rented house in Hosakerehalli. He used to operate with the help of his associates Rajesh, 32, and Mitesh Panchal, 25. According to the police, the accused would do a recee in his sedan car to identify locked houses. After selecting a particular house, he would break into such houses and escape with the valuables, which he later melted and transported to Gujarat. But luck ran out for the accused Talapad when the Vijayanagar police identified the accused through a CCTV camera and picked one of them up for questioning. This led the police to recover 1.250 kg of gold, 150 kg of silver, and a Honda Amaze car which the gang had bought recently. The accused have so far confessed that they had broken into 13 houses in the city. The accused’s wife had also played a vital role and efforts are on to nab her, an officer said.
