The Jagjeevanram Nagar police have registered a case under several sections of Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act and have arrested Chainrup Baradia of Bikaner in Rajasthan and a resident of Jagjeevanram Nagar. His wife and the owner of the day care centre, Sandhya Baradia has also been arrested for running it from their home without any official authorisation. Both the accused and the 3-year-old victim were medically examined, police said. According to the police, the incident came to light when the parents of the 3-year-old girl picked her up from the day care centre on Thursday. The victim was reportedly writhing in pain and complaining of stomachache. The parents took her to a nearby hospital where the doctors confirmed that she could have been sexually assaulted. The parents lodged a complaint with J.J. Nagar police and the cops swung into action arresting the owner of the day care centre and her husband. The victim’s father works as an auto driver and her mother works for a private company. They used to leave their 3-year-old daughter at the day care centre from 10.30 pm to 5.30 pm, the police said. The child was only recently enrolled to the centre. The day care centre was started by Sandhya Baradia only a few months ago and there is no information on how many toddlers enrolled into the crèche. There are no CCTV cameras as well at the premise, the police said. Chainrup Baradia works at a bookshop in Gandhinagar. Sources said that the 3-year-old victim was sent for counseling where her statement was recorded.
