However, another constable Revana Siddappa who accompanied the head constable, managed to nab one during a hot chase. Nagaraj and Revana Siddappa were on night patrolling in their cheetah vehicle when they noticed an auto with a tampered number plate on pipeline road. Nagaraj asked the driver to stop and found that there were two more men in it. He got into the vehicle and asked the driver to drive towards police station as they failed to give convincing reply. When the auto reached Vinayaka circle, one of the accused sitting in the passengers’ seat stabbed head constable Nagraj with a dagger and pushed him out of the vehicle. Revana Siddappa, who was following the auto in his vehicle asked passersby to rush his colleague to hospital and chased the auto. While the two got out from the speeding vehicle, the driver toppled the vehicle in a bid to escape. However, the constable overpowered him and alerted the control room. Soon, additional force rushed to the spot and bundled the driver, who was later identified as Manjunath. The police have recovered a smartphone with power bank, which the gang robbed from a Shiva Prakash, a private firm employee, in Malleswaram, a few hours before they were caught.
