Submitted by Editor on Fri, 2016-03-18 22:11 Bengaluru: Unable to put up with acute joint pain, a 60-year-old woman committed suicide by consuming toilet disinfectant at her house at Kamala Nagar in Basaveshwara Nagar on Friday.The deceased Muniyamma was living with her son Manjunatha, a construction labourer. According to the police, Muniyamma hd slipped in the bathroom last month and fractured her back. Since then, she began complaining about acute joint pain and had even consulted the doctors in this regard.However, when the pain did not cease, a dejected Muniyamma ended her life by consuming toilet disinfectant on Wednesday night. Manjunath, who returned from work, found her unconscious and rushed her to ESI hospital, where she succumbed on Friday.The Basaveshwara Nagar police have taken up a case of unnatural death and are waiting for the post-mortem report to ascertain her exact cause of death.Inter-state gang of robbers arrested by city policeBengaluru: Central Crime Branch officials on Thursday arrested a gang of six inter-state muggers who robbed an elderly woman posing as police officials.The accused Yasir Ali, 45, Thakki Ali 42, Hashim Dara, 26, SK Hasan, 24, Sajjad, 30, and Sadiq Ali, 28, were also involved in several robberies in Tamil Nadu and Andhra Pradesh, said KV Sarath Chandra, Additional Commissioner of Police (crime). The police also recovered gold valuables worth Rs10 lakh along with a car and two motorcycles used by the accused to commit robberies.The accused would move around the city on motorcycles and target elderly woman going on morning or evening walks. They would confront the victims posing as policemen and advice them to safeguard their valuables by assisting them in packing them in a piece of paper. Next, another individual would divert the attention and replace the original valuables with fake ones and escape.The police nabbed the accused based on a tip-off while the accused were moving around suspiciously.
