Women's day shocker: Woman gang-raped in front of her teenage son

Submitted by Editor on Tue, 2016-03-08 18:29 Bengaluru: A 35-year-old woman was allegedly gang-raped by three persons in front of her 15-year-old son at her residence on Sunday midnight in HSR Layout. The HSR Layout police have nabbed the main accused Santosh Reddy, 38, a resident of Halanaika Halli on Sarjapur Road. Police said the victim, a native of Chitradurga, had come to Bengaluru along with her son five years ago after separating from her husband. She worked as a cook at a nearby apartment in her locality to eke out a living. Six months ago, she came into contact with a person identified as Brahmananda Reddy, who often stayed with the victim, the police said.  On Sunday around 11.30pm, the accused Santosh Reddy, uncle of Brahmananda Reddy, came to the victim's house along with two other accused - Manjunath and Sathish.  As per the victim's allegation, the trio first assaulted Brahmananda Reddy and her son and dragged the victim into the bedroom where they raped her. The three then fled the scene after threatening the victim with dire consequences. Based on the victim's complaint, the HSR Layout police registered a case of gang rape and criminal intimidation and arrested Santosh from his residence in Halanaika Halli on Sarjapur Road.
