Deputy Commissioner of Police (North division) TR Suresh said that the accused Jenson Correya, a resident of Chikka Bidarakallu, younger son of deceased Gilbert Correya, was angry over his father's illicit relationship with a woman. Police said that Gilbert was a successful realtor and had accumulated a sizable amount of property in his name in the city. His wife had passed away a year ago and his two sons lived separately in the city. Police said that Gilbert's younger son Jenson, who had been living separately since 1998, had nurtured a suspicion that his mother had passed away because she had been neglected by his father. He was also angry with his father over his illicit relationship with another woman and the attention he showered on the woman and her family. Jenson alleged that his father frequently brought his mistress to his house and gave away all his mother's jewels upon her death. “Jenson was angry about his father's illicit relationship and also for not giving away any property to Jenson and elder brother Johnson,” police said. According to the police, Jenson came to Gilbert's house at around 5.30pm on Feb 21 and found his father talking to his mistress over the phone. This led to a heated argument between the father and son. Jenson killed his father by first punching him in the face and later smothered him, said the police. Later, Jenson laid the dead body on the bed and threw chilli and coriander powder to mislead the police and fled the scene. The incident came to light the next day, on Feb 22, and Johnson, elder son of Gilbert, filed a complaint about the murder. Jenson reportedly has confessed to the crime after being arrested.
