Robbers fleeing after snatching mobile at Orion Mall killed in accident

Submitted by alvin on Wed, 2016-02-24 20:26 Bengaluru: Two robbers fleeing after allegedly snatching a mobile phone from a person at Orion Mall met with an accident and were killed on Wednesday. The deceased have been identified as Santosh, 20, and Abhilash, 19, both residents of Manjunathanagar. Traffic police said that the incident occurred around 2am on Wednesday. Deputy Commissioner of Police (North division) TR Suresh said that Ikhlaq Yakoob, a native of Gujarat, was waiting for a bus at Orion Mall stop to go to his home in Kurubarahalli. Santosh, who was riding a Pulsar bike, and Abhilash, who was riding pillion, came in one bike and they were joined by two others who came in another bike, said Suresh. “The deceased and two others asked Yakoob to give his mobile and money to them. They threatened him at knife point and took his mobile and fled from the spot,” said the DCP. After snatching the mobile, Santosh and Abhilash fled towards Iskcon Temple, where they collided with a parked water tanker. The rider Santosh died on the spot while Abhilash, who was injured, was shifted to KC General Hospital where he was confirmed dead. Two other accomplices of Santosh and Abhilash managed to escape, said Suresh.
