Pavan was a Class III student while his sister was studying in Class I at Subhash School located near their residence.Police said Shiva Kumar, a daily wage labourer, suffered from psychological problems and was being treated at NIMHANS. As he had had stopped going to work for the past four months, his wife Tayamma, also known as Vasanta, had been taking care of the family by working as a house maid, said the police. But Tayamma’s earning were not enough to pay the school fee, which led to arguments between husband and wife. On Saturday, after Tayamma departed for work, Shiva Kumar took his two kids out of the house and murdered them by slitting their throats and stabbing them, said the police. Later, Shiva Kumar put the dead bodies in a sack and dumped the dead bodies in a drain. “Shiva Kumar called his wife over the phone after killing the kids and told her that he was going to Dharmasthala with his children. He denied her request to let her talk with the children. Tayamma, suspecting that something was wrong, informed her relatives. On Sunday, Shiva Kumar told his wife that his children had gone missing at Malemahadeshwara hill and he was searching for them. But he confessed about the murder when his wife and relatives told him that they would inform the police,” Umesh said. After being informed about the twin murders, the police rushed to the spot on Sunday night and found a plastic sack with two dead bodies in it. Shiva Kumar was subsequently arrested from a bus stand at the Malemahadeshwara Hill and brought back to Bengaluru on Monday for investigation.“Shiva Kumar did not reveal the exact reason behind the murder. We suspect that he was having regular conflicts with his wife and angry that he was unable to do anything about it. So, as a result of that he could have murdered his children,” ACP Umesh said. The dead bodies were handed over to Tayamma on Monday after the postmortem examination.
