A case was registered on Wednesday based on the complaint lodged by the girl’s school. Deputy Commissioner of Police (North division) TR Suresh said the incident came to light a month ago when the girl informed school officials about the sexual assault. After conducting an internal probe, the school suspended the teacher from service and informed the Jalahalli police station about the matter on Wednesday morning. “We have registered a case of rape under the provision of section 376 and also some sections of Protection of Children from Sexual Offenses (POCSO) Act. The accused is at large and we have formed a team to nab him,” Suresh said. The DCP said the girl had been sexually assaulted from the beginning of the academic year in June. “He allegedly took the girl to his sister’s residence on numerous occasions and sexually abused her,” Suresh said. The Jalahalli police have recorded the girl’s and parents’ statements. Probe is underway.
