The accused Anand, 35, employee of Canara Bank, Saravana Kumar, 27, employee of a DTDC courier company and Elvino, 23, student of MSW from a city-based college, were arrested under IPC section 353 ( Assault or criminal force to deter public servant from discharge of his duty) and remanded in judicial custody. The incident happened as the three individuals were waiting at the Cubbon junction signal as traffic was stopped to allow CM’s convoy, moving towards HAL to receive a delegation, to pass through. After waiting for a long time, the three impatient motorists demanded that they be let through as they were getting late for work. Krishnamurthy, sub-inspector attached with Commercial Street, who was on duty at the spot, made it clear that they will not be allowed to move till the convoy has passed. A heated exchange ensued and then turned ugly with the three roughing up Krishnamurthy. Police officials immediately rushed to the spot and took the three to the Commercial Street Police Station. Later, they were remanded in judicial custody.
