Submitted by Subeditor on Mon, 2016-02-01 20:50 Bengaluru: A 36-year old woman has been arrested along with her husband and an associate of theirs for allegedly murdering her friend in Kengeri. The police recovered stolen property worth Rs4 lakh including gold ornaments weighing 112 grams. The accused have been identified as Sultana Khanum, 36, and her husband Mukthar Ahmed who is 27, and their associate Syed Saleem, 23, of Sonnenahalli. Sultana and Muktar were neighbours of the victim Nilofer, 46, in Kengeri. According to the police, Nilofer was found missing on Jan 4 from her residence and a case of missing person had been registered. A police investigation led to Sultana Khanum, who confessed to the crime after being interrogated. The police said that Nilofer and Sultana were close friends. But Sultana was jealous of Nilofer as she possessed plenty of gold jewellery. So with an eye on the gold, Sultana decided to eliminate Nilofer. She discussed the matter with her husband Muktar, who agreed to the plan. The duo invited Nilofer to their house on Jan 4. According to the police, Nilofer was first hit with rolling pin, a utensil used to flatten dough. Then she was strangulated with an electric wire. The killers then rolled Nilofer’s body in a mat and looted the valuables from her house. On the same night, they used the help of their associate Saleem to ferry the body in an autorickshaw and dumped it in Byramangala lake, near Bidadi, said the police. The police have arrested all three and recovered gold ornaments weighing 112 grams, cash worth Rs40,500, silver articles weighing 370 grams, four wrist watches and an autorickshaw from the accused. All three have been remanded in judicial custody.
