Megharikh said NIA officials had informed the city police about the operations on Thursday. “We were informed about the operation but they did not ask for any assistance in this regard. However, there is no official communication by the agency on the number of arrests made or the names of the suspects.” When asked whether the city police had been watching the suspects, Megharikh said the local police had been keeping an eye on the activities of Syed Anzar Shah Qasmi, who was arrested by the Delhi police recently. “But the suspects picked up by the NIA were not under the radar of city police.” No specific alert for R-Day When asked about the threat of possible terror attacks on Republic Day, Megharikh said that there was no specific alert from the central agencies. On threat to French consulate On the French consulate receiving a threat poster, he said the police did not see any reason to carry the investigation forward as the address on the letter was fake.
