Eight-year-old killed, father injured as truck rams scooter

Submitted by Editor on Tue, 2016-01-19 21:08 Bengaluru: An eight-year-old child was killed and his father critically injured when a tipper truck rammed into their two-wheeler from behind near the Central Power Research Institute (CPRI) bus stop in CV Raman Nagar, Sadashivanagar, on Tuesday morning.The deceased has been identified as S Mohit, a resident of Ulsoor and class II student. His father, Shivanarayana, employed as a swimming coach with a private institute, was critically injured in the accident.The Sadashivanagar traffic police said the incident took place around 10.30 am. Shivanarayana and his son were going towards Yeshwanthpur on their scooter when a tipper truck hit them from behind. With the impact throwing both the father and child onto the road, the truck ran over Mohit, killing him on the spot. Shivanarayana was rushed to MS Ramaiah hospital for treatment while Mohit’s body was shifted for postmortem. The police said the lorry driver fled the scene fearing public ire.
