Submitted by Newseditor on Tue, 2016-01-12 22:01 Bengaluru: A 27- year old man has been arrested by the RT Nagar police in North Bengaluru on suspicion of kidnapping the four-year-old son of his friend, to extort money. Police identified the arrested man as N Raghu, a painter living at Pragathipura in Banashankari area. Police said Raghu borrowed around Rs1 lakh from Francis, kidnap victim Joshua's father over a period. Francis's mother was pressing Raghu to return their money. Raghu hatched a plan to return their money by kidnapping Joshua and seeking ransom. Raghu took his friend Raja's help to execute his plan. They kidnapped the boy on January 4, when he was playing outside his homem and kept him at Raghu's residence. Francis, who is an accountant officer with an MNC, received a ransom call from the abductor, who demanded Rs 7 lakh to release Joshua. Francis complained to told the police about the call. The police registered a case of kidnap and started investigating. The police noticed that Raghu accompanied Francis whenever the boy’s father visited police for enquire about the progress of the case. They found his behaviour suspicious and took him into custody for questioning. Raghu reportedly confessed about the crime and took police to his residence, from where the police rescued the boy. The police arrested the Raghu and launched manhunt for his associate Raja in the case.
