Paramour Becomes Her Weapon to Kill In- Laws, Injure Husband

Submitted by Subeditor on Tue, 2016-01-05 20:12  Bengaluru: A 28- year old woman arrested along with her paramour by the Kadugodi police in South-East Bengaluru on Monday night for allegedly murdering her in-laws and also attacking her husband to kill him when he was returning home in the evening. The accused have been identified as Durga, a resident of AKG Colony in Kadugodi and her paramour Anji, a native of Vellore district in Tamil Nadu and an army Jawan by profession who works with MEG in Bengaluru. MB Boralingaiah, The Deputy Commissioner of Police (South-East division) said that they have murdered Durga's father-in-law Kannan (70) and mother-in-law Manora Mani (65). Dugha's husband Manikanta, a lab technician with a private firm near Electronic City was also attacked by Anji, when he was returning home at around 7.30 pm on Monday. “We have taken up a case on charges of murder and attempt to murder against the accused persons and further investigations are on. Our preliminary investigation reveals that the family dispute and illicit relationship played a major role in the crime,” Boralingaiah said. The Kadugodi police said that the murder of senior citizen come to light on midnight, when their relatives searched for the couple. Police added that Manikanta had returned home from work around 7.30 pm and he was also attacked by Anji with lethal weapons. Manikanta initially thought that he was attacked by a thief and screamed for help. His neighbors reached the spot to help him and managed to nab Anji and handed over to the Kadugodi police. Manikanta was taken to nearby hospital and admitted for treatment. His wife Durga acted innocent and accompanied him to hospital. His relatives started to ask about the whereabout of his parents and Durga told them that they left to their native place. The relatives did not believe it and returned home and started searching. They found the dead bodies of the couple, which were covered in polythene bag under the cot in the house. They immediately alerted the police and informed that Anji murdered couple before he attacked Manikanta. The police started to question him and he confessed that he did the crime along with Durga as the couple come to know about their illicit relationship. Then the police arrested Durga too. “She also confessed that she eliminated her in-laws with the help of Anji as they opposed her relationship with Anji. They also planned to kill Manikata to clear the line for their relationship,” a police officer said. The accused persons used blunted object and also a sharp weapon to kill the couple. Police suspects that they murdered the couple in the afternoon and hiden the bodies under the cot. Boralingaiah also said that Durga had married Manikanta few years ago and the couple have two children. Durga and Anji are relatives as her brother married Anji's sister. The duo had even eloped to Andhra Pradesh few months ago and only returned recently after Manikanta traced her with the help of police as missing person complaint was lodged. The further probe is underway.
