He allegedly outraged her modesty twice and based on a complaint police have detained him. According to police, the victim and the boy are neighbours and both their parents are working in garment factories. Both the families hail from North Karnataka. After the girl’s parents left for work, her grandmother used to take care of her. On Friday, when the grandmother was away from home, the boy entered the house on the pretext of playing with the girl. The incident came to light when the girl’s mother came home early in the evening. “When the mother knocked on the door, the girl did not open the door immediately. She took ten minutes to open the door. Mother was shocked to find the boy inside the house and was hurriedly wearing his clothes. Suspecting something had gone wrong, the mother enquired with the girl after the boy left and she narrated the incident to the mother. Also, she told that this was the second time the boy had done this to her. Later, the mother filed a complaint based on which the boy was picked up,” the police said. The Peenya police have registered a case under the provisions of the POCSO Act and are investigating. Both the boy and the girl have been subjected to medical tests.
