Submitted by Newseditor on Mon, 2015-12-14 23:45 Bengaluru: Three persons were killed in a sanitary sump of a prestigious Aratt Royal Citadel Apartment at Singasandra in South-East Bengaluru on Monday evening. The deceased are identified as Mahesh (22) of Nepal, Jagadeesh (23) of K R Nagar in Karnataka and Ranjan (22) of Orissa. All were daily wage labours and and had entered the sump to clean it. The Electronic City police said that the tragic incident occurred around at 6 pm on Monday. The apartment staff asked them to clean it without taking any necessary precautions, which lead to their death. The fourth cleaner had a lucky escape. The deceased who entered the sump fell unconscious due to suffocation and breathed their last. The fourth person, who was outside the sump was peeping through the door and when he did not get response to his repeated call outs to his mates he checked to only find them dead. He alerted the apartment staff and later the Electronic City Police at around 7 pm. The bodies were retrieved and shifted to the hospital for post mortem. Police said they have registered a case of deaths due to negligence under the provision of section 304 A of IPC against Umesh, a contractor and taken him into custody.
