In what turned to be an embarrassment to the police department, a mobile phone kept for charging at the newly inaugurated office of the Home Minister went amiss on Friday. The mobile phone belonging to Krishnamurthy, a priest from R T Nagar, who had come to perform puja during the inauguration of the office. While performing the rituals Mr. Krishnamurthy had kept his mobile phone for charging. After the puja when he returned to get his phone he could find only the charger. He desperately searched and someone in the crowd tried to call the number, but could not reach it since the building has mobile jammers. City Police Commissioner N S Megharik, Director General and Inspector General of Police Om Prakash , and head of the State Intelligence Wing A M Prasad were among those present along with Home Minister G. Parameshwar. Later Krishnamurthy refused to file a complaint but it was an embarrassing moment as the alleged theft at the ministerial incharge of curbing crime and right under the nose of senior police officials.
