Uncapped Vince, Ball named in England Test squad against Lanka

Submitted by alvin on Thu, 2016-05-12 19:47 London: The uncapped duo of James Vince and Jake Ball has been named in the England squad for the upcoming first Test of the three-match series against Sri Lanka,starting from May 19 at Headingly Carnegie in Leeds. Vince, who is the Hampshire captain, will come into the team in place of retired James Taylor at number five spot while Nick Compton would continue to remain at number three,the Guardian reported. Meanwhile, Nottinghamshire paceman Ball has earned his first senior call-up after his impressive performances in his first four championship fixtures this season, where he bagged a total of 19 wickets to become joint-leading wicket taker in Division One. The 25-year-old fast bowler would likely to provide a back-up in the senior seam-bowling department, which also includes Stuart Broad, Jimmy Anderson and Steven Finn.
