Submitted by Newseditor on Mon, 2015-11-16 20:42 Manipal: Manipal University Press (MUP), started in November 2011 will release its 49th and 50th publications on November 18 at MGM college at 5:30 pm. Noted writer and lyricist Dr Jayant Kaikini and Dr H S Ballal, the Pro Chancellor of Manipal University will release the books that are in Kannada. “It’s a matter of pride that MUP is ready with its 49th and 50th publications in the Rajyotsava month with both the books in Kannada and interestingly both on children’s literature in Kannada, apt for release around Children’s Day,” stated Dr Neeta Inamdar, Chief Editor of MUP in a press release today. “The vision of MUP is to bring out quality publications in Kannada along with the English publications,” she said. The books are “Makkala Padyamanjiri” a book of poems for children by Kayyara Kinhanna Rai and Moggina Maatu by Dr Kathyayani Kunjibettu are being released together. The present book by Kayyara with illustrations by artist Prasad Rao G makes reading more interesting. It’s ideally the 50th publication of MUP brought out in the centenary year of the great poet himself. In an effort to keep the memories of the lost literature alive, Dr Kathyayani Kunjibettu a contemporary author, presents a critique of Sri Palakala Sitharama Bhat’s stories, in her recent book Moggina Mathu. For the older generation it would be a trip down the memory lane and for the younger ones an inspiration to read works of Sri Sitarama Bhat and enliven their lives. The book release will be followed by a puppet show by a troupe from Gombemane Dharwad sponsored by the Department of Kannada and Culture, Government of Karnataka.
