Submitted by Subeditor on Wed, 2015-12-09 16:04 Mangaluru: A four days workshop on “Instrumental techniques, handling and servicing of analytical and laboratary instruments” has commenced at St. Aloysius College Mangaluru here on Tuesday. Western Regional Instrumentation Center (WRIC) Director Dr B L Jadhav ianugurated the workshop. While inaugurating the workshop, Dr. Jadav said that Laboratories will remain healthy only when the instruments are healthy. Jadhav further stated that WRIC aimed to educate the faculty and student all over India in the technique of maintaining and repairing their analytical and laboratory instruments. He further elucidated that his team would provide basic information and training for future endeavors in the field of Science. Official Technician and Course Coordinator of WRIC N N Rao spoke about how the program aimed at becoming a money-saving enterprise rather money- earning one. ``Simple technique to maintain and repair instruments would help colleges postpone the purchase of new instruments``, Rao added. St Aloysius College Director Fr Praveen Martis SJ said, ``we are in the age of science where science is progressive and instruments play an important role. Students should learn as much as they can to enable independency in future``, he said. The workshop was to impart skills in techniques, operation, maintenance and repairs of laboratory instruments commonly used in Science Research laboratories. Principal in-charge Fr Francis D Almeida,Vice Principal of Science Block Prof. John Sherra, coordinator of the workshop Dr. Ronald Nazareth, and organizing secretary Dimple Pinto were also present on the occasion.
