Interacting with media-persons prior to taking part in `Tulabhara’ event, the 85 year-old senior pontiff of Pejavar mutt, declared that `Shahapankti Bhojana’ (people of all castes eating together) will be in vogue during his paryaya. He also promised of spiritual revolution by giving `Naama’ and `Mantra’ deeksha to dalits in Udupi Krishna temple. Those who do not wish to give up eating meat can obtain nama deeksha and those willing to avoid non vegetarian food will be given mantra deeksha, he said. Commenting on the controversies, he pointed out that only those with a hidden agenda would rake up a controversy on this issue. For Lingayat mutts also give “Ishtalinga deeksha” to those willing to give up meat and become a lingayat. During the paryaya Pejavar seer promised more seats for dalits in his educational institutions and hostels run by Pejavar mutt. “Such deeksha will instill religious discipline and make them believe in dharma,” Vishveshateertha swamiji stressed. The ritual Made “made made snana” (rolling on plantain with leftovers) will be replaced with Yede snana. “There will be total transparency and my term will end with detailed list on how money was utilised,” he added. The senior pontiff also informed that teh Prime Minister Narendra Modi had promised to visit Udupi during his two year-paryaya period.
