Mangaluru Minor Rape Case: Suspects Sent to Judicial Custody

Submitted by Subeditor on Wed, 2015-12-30 17:47 Mangaluru: Among the five accused who allegedly gang raped a minor girl in Panjimogaru, four were remanded to judicial custody and a minor was sent to juvenile home here on Tuesday. The suspects namely Prashanth Shetty (23), Noufal (23) Suresh (20) Salman (20) and a minor was arrested by Kavoor police in connection with gang raping a minor girl on Sunday. The arrested have confessed their guilty before the police. On Sunday, Prashanth and four others took the victim to a house at Panjimogaru and made her to drink juice and raped her one after another after she fell into unconscious. Later, the gang asked the her not to disclose it with anyone, threatening of dire consequences. The incident came to light when victim's mother noticed her daughter in depression on Monday morning. She approached the members of Mangaluru Mahila Shakti and lodged a complaint at Kavoor police station. Alerted on the complaint, Kavoor police arrested all the five accused and registered case under Protection Of Children from Sexual Offenses (POCSO) Act.
