Uttarakhand CM criticizes hike in petrol, diesel prices

Submitted by alvin on Wed, 2016-03-16 20:04 New Delhi: Criticizing the hike in petrol and diesel prices,Uttarakhand Chief Minister Harish Rawat on Wednesday said such raise in fuel prices will affect the common man adversely.Rawat told ANI, "This is a heavy increment; this will have an ill-effect on state like ours. The consumers will be affected adversely.""The government is in the position that it can absorb such minor jolts. No matter the price fluctuates in the international market the Centre can absorb the hike and spare the common man. This kind of increments should not be there," he added.Petrol prices on Wednesday increased by Rs. 3.07/litre in Delhi (including State levies) with corresponding price revision in other States. With this change, the price of petrol in Delhi will cost around Rs. 59.68/litre.However, diesel prices also witnessed a hike of Rs. 1.90/litre in Delhi (including State levies) with corresponding price revision in other States. A litre of diesel is now to cost Rs. 48.33/litre.Indian Oil Corporation Ltd. has decided to effect the following price changes from midnight of 16th and 17th March 2016. (ANI)
