Niranthara kicks off on a bright note

Submitted by Editor on Fri, 2016-03-25 15:54 Mysuru: Human values is the dominant theme at the ongoing state-level theatre festival, Niranthara, at Fine Arts College campus, University of Mysore.Most of the plays being presented here are an attempt to create awareness on stereotyping culture and its drawbacks. The festival will be on till March 27. The entire campus has been decked up with folk murals and plays with sensitive stories are attracting huge crowd.University of Mysore Vice-chancellor K S Rangappa who inaugurated the fest, said “Education alone cannot help in personality development. But cultural activities mould students to be a better citizen.”Theatre veteran Prof Gangadhar Swamy, writer T K Dayanand and Niranthara Foundation director Prasad Kunduru were present.Play schedule: On March 25, Mruthyunjaya, directed by Shripad Bhat, based on Niranjan's novel, On March 26, Rudaali, directed by Dr Rameshwari Varma, based on Jnanapeeta awardee Mahashwetadevi's novel, On March 27, Sorutihudu Sambandha, written and directed by Mahaantesh Ramadurga. All the play starts at 7pm in Fine Art College of University of Mysore
