Bengaluru: Cunningham Road in Vasanthnagar, one of the busiest stretches in the city with several important offices, is turning into a pedestrian's nightmare. Last year, the BBMP renovated the road under TenderSURE project but now the cobbles on the footpath have been removed while OFC cables are lying all over the footpath.
Ashwini, a resident of Cunningham road, said, "This particular footpath is not designed well. Earlier, when TenderSURE project was implemented, they said the cables will be fixed under the footpath. Now, they still remain on the surface of the footpath. They have removed all the cobbles now. Where is the footpath to walk?"
In typical BBMP style, Jayasimha, Assistant Executive Engineer, BBMP, was unaware of the problem. "I am not aware of the issue. I will visit the spot and check it tomorrow. They might have removed it to construct the compound wall of SP Rural office," he said.
When contacted, Amit Singh, SP, Rural Bengaluru, said, "The footpath still exists and people walk on it. It that has nothing to do with our office compound wall."
